Trauma/EMDR

Trauma can be described as an experience or series of events that caused emotional distress, confusion, and an overwhelming inability to cope.  In some cases, people may have felt that their life or the life of someone else was threatened and as a result experienced a deep sense of horror and fear.  Trauma can be experienced as an isolated incident (i.e. a bad car accident or a medical procedure gone wrong).  Chronic trauma on the other hand, can be more complex and is often referred to as complex trauma.  Complex trauma entails exposure to multiple traumatic incidents that were both wide-ranging and pervasive.  Complex trauma is usually used to describe traumas that started early in life and caused the person to be exposed to stressful situations and emotions for a prolonged period of time.

Therapy for Teens

The Teen years are an impressionable, sensitive, identity-forming, and confusing time.  It can be a drastic time of growth in all areas and an emotionally charged time. Teens are figuring out who they are, their sexuality is forming and/or expressing itself, their bodies and brains are developing and changing, and their ego is becoming stronger and more rigid.  As a parent, you may find yourself getting stuck in power struggles with your teen and/or on the receiving end of their Teen angst or maybe you are just really worried about them.

Telehealth

With our increasingly busy and demanding lives, it can be quite challenging at times to physically make it into the office. Particularly, traffic in Los Angeles can make it an even more burdensome task. Thankfully, we have the technology to conduct live video sessions to care for clients.  Telehealth is the use of modern technology that enables a therapist or another healthcare provider to treat a client remotely. I use Doxy, a HIPPA-compliant platform to conduct live video sessions. I will provide you with a link that directs you to my virtual waiting room. Please note that it is very important that you have a strong WiFi connection and a private and quiet space to meet.
